Ingredients for Preparation of Patty:
Approx 6 patties will be made
- Black Eyed Beans (Lobhia) ¼ cup
- Chickpeas (Kala Chana) ¼ cup
- Green Chilly 1 medium sized chopped
- Onions 2 medium sized
- Grounded flax seeds ½ tbsp.
- Coriander Powder 1 tbsp
- Chaat Masala or Spice Mix 1 tsp
- Lemon Juice 1 tbsp
- Oil 1 tbsp
Burger Assembling Ingredients:
For 1 bun
- Burger Bread/Bun 1 piece
- Butter 1 tbsp
- Pizza Sauce ½ tsp
- Mayonnaise 1tbsp
- Cucumber Slice 1
- Tomato Slice 1
- Onion Slice 1
Method:
Preparing the patty
- Wash the black eyed beans (lobhia) and chickpeas (kala chana) well and soak in fresh water overnight.
- Once they are soaked well, cook the lobia and kala chana using a pressure cooker with 1 cup of water. Cook until the beans are soft.
- Now drain the excess water and keep the beans aside.
- In a food processor or blender, add boiled lobia and kala chana (together 1 cup). Coarsely grind the mixture.
- Add chopped green chili, 2 medium sized onions, ½ tbsp flax seeds, 1 tbsp coriander powder, 1 tsp chaat masala or spice mix. Grind it in the blender again for 1 min. Scrape the sides of the blender jar.
- Collect the mixture in a large bowl. Add 1 tbsp lemon juice to it.
- Use your clean hand mix everything well, mix it together to make a soft dough. Check the salt and spice levels and adjust to suit your taste.
- Make round patties of this mixture as same as the size of buns and keep aside.
- Now grease pan using 1 tbsp oil. Place the patties/tikkis over a pan and apply some oil on top as well.
- When the base is lightly browned, flip the patties.
- Flip a couple of times more till the patties are pan-fried evenly and the crust becomes golden and crispy. Fry them on low flame.
Making Burger
- Cut the burger buns/ bread horizontally into two halves.
- Toast the buns from both sides with butter.
- Spread ½ tsp pizza sauce on base side of bun.
- Spread 1 tbsp mayonnaise on another half of bun.
- Place the patty on pizza sauce.
- Top up with a cucumber slice, tomato slice, and onion slice.
- Place the mayonnaise bun on top and press slightly.
- Lobhia kala chana tikki burger is ready.
